Soft Armour is a series of paintings exploring intimacy, connection and communication through pairs of concealed figures. Draped entirely in fabric, the figures are stripped of identifiable features, leaving gesture, posture and physical proximity to suggest the relationships between them.

Drawing on the theatrical drapery and compositions of historical painting, each pairing is loosely associated with figures from Greek mythology. These references provide a starting point rather than a fixed narrative, allowing the encounters to remain ambiguous and open to interpretation.

The title Soft Armour reflects the dual role of the fabric: it protects the figures from identification while becoming the means through which they communicate. Concealment does not remove expression, but shifts it from the face to the body, the folds of the fabric and the space between two figures.
